Chic In A White Tunic

Happy Fri-Yay, Beauties!

Did you make it through the week okay? I hope you did and have plans to relax or do something fun this weekend.

You guys know what I’ve been having a hard time with–my nieces and nephews growing up! Yeah. I cannot believe my oldest niece will be 18 next month — seems like it was just yesterday that she was a baby. She’ll be graduating from high school in June and moving on to pursue a career she loves.

Then, my oldest nephew will be 14 in October and I ask myself…’how in the world did this happen?!’ I remember the night he was born. I have a number of other nieces and nephews, and they’re all growing up so nicely. They’re intelligent, curious, articulate, and funny. They all have their own personalities and it’s wonderful to see each of them blossoming.

So, Auntie Cynti is up really early trying to write this blog and thinking about the young ones. All I ask is that God blesses and keeps them safe. The world can be so cruel sometimes, but there is also a lot of love in the world.

Those of you who have already gone through this phase of your life–of your nieces and nephews, or even your children, entering young adulthood–how did you cope?

The Fashion

So, this fab look is serving nautical-chic vibes! You ladies already know how much I love stripes. This gorgeous, generously cut tunic is so perfect and of course it’s striped, so I’m in heaven! It’s made of quality material, is flowy and breathable, and not to mention, very forgiving for us girls with hips and thighs.

I paired the top with basic black leggings (these are from Joe Boxer and they are so soft!). I completed the look with these great basket-weave, heeled sandals; added my straw hat, sunnies and a leather tote. This ensemble is perfect for some fun island hopping or a nice brunch on the boardwalk. Cheers to a chic weekend!

There is this misconception that wearing ‘tight and short’ is what’s fashionable. I sometimes see beautiful women who have forced their bodies into clothing that are too tight and too short for them, perhaps in the name of ‘looking good.’

You can always tell when a woman is uncomfortable in her clothes because she can be seen tugging, pulling and readjusting it. The solution is to wear clothes that truly fit your body, and that you feel fully comfortable and confident in.

I sometimes wear short and fitted clothing, but here’s how I (generally) do it: If I’m wearing a tighter jean with a tank, I often throw on a kimono for a little coverage that offers a stylish and polished look; I do a similar thing with shorts, as well. I mostly wear Bermuda shorts, which covers the length of the thigh, and I may pair it with a blazer, like I did here or with a longer-length, blousey top that I tuck in at the front and leave out at the back, or a long-sleeved top with a front knot.
