Easy Breezy Island Easter

Photos by Ray Galloway

Happy Easter, Beauties!

Today, I thought I’d roll out a special bonus feature of this cute and casual look that’s perfect for Easter on the island!

Before I get into it, though, let me tell you, I have a very big decision to make over the next few days. I’m praying and believe I’ll make the right decision, whatever it might be.

Here on St. Croix, the Easter holiday is a time where families get together and camp out on beaches all across the island. It’s really a nice time. Some families have been doing this for generations.

I’m not camping this year, but I took a drive around the island to check out the campsites and I saw everything from really elaborate setups that should be more suitably described as “glamping” (glamour + camping) sites, to the more traditional campsites. Domino games were in effect at all the areas I visited, and there were tons of good food and good music for campers to enjoy. Some campers set up their sites as early as two weeks before Easter. It’s all about enjoying family, friends and the outdoors.

Also during the Easter season, (on Good Friday, in particular), there’s a traditional dish originating from the island of Antigua that’s served in just about every household on St. Croix and across the Caribbean: ducana and saltfish. It’s so good. By tradition, here in the Caribbean, it’s customary to avoid red meat on Good Friday. Read more about this delicious dish here and check out this video of its preparation.

I really like and appreciate tradition. It sort of grounds you and helps define your place in the world. Do you have any family traditions you enjoy during the Easter holiday?

The Fashions

What’s not to love about this dress?! Made of 100 percent cotton, this chic ensemble is a great look for church on Easter Sunday, brunch and everything in between.

I felt really pretty in this dress with its lady-like length, fit-and-flair cut, off-the-shoulder neckline and all around gorgeousness. The beautiful coral color perfectly captures Easter’s happy vibe.

Did you see the shoes? Wooden clogs with multi-color, fabric ties. Yasssss! I thought these shoes were just fab and beautifully pulled the outfit together. You can tie these straps high or low, like I did here.

I really liked pairing the look with my Lucky Brand mustard-color purse. Just a fun, fun chic and coordinated ensemble that’s an egg-cellent look for Easter or anytime you want to look your best! What are you wearing on this beautiful Easter Sunday?
